THIS SIMPLE PAGE STRATEGY CAN GET YOU RANKING IN 5 CITIES INSTEAD OF 1
Most plumbers have one website optimized for one city. Here's how to rank in every city you serve without building 5 separate websites.
You serve 5 cities.
Your website mentions 1.
And you wonder why you only get calls from that one city.
This is one of the biggest missed opportunities in plumbing SEO. And the fix takes about an hour.
How Google Decides Where You Rank
When someone searches "plumber in Scottsdale," Google looks at your website and asks: "Does this website mention Scottsdale?" According to Google's SEO Starter Guide, relevance is everything.
If your website only talks about Phoenix... Google doesn't show you for Scottsdale searches. Even if you're 10 minutes away. Even if you've done 200 jobs there.
Google doesn't guess. It reads.
If the word "Scottsdale" isn't on your website, you don't exist in Scottsdale. As far as Google is concerned.
The Fix: Service Area Pages
Create one page for each city you serve.
"Plumber in Scottsdale" "Plumber in Tempe" "Plumber in Mesa" "Plumber in Chandler" "Plumber in Gilbert"
Each page should include:
The city name in the title. "Reliable Plumber in Scottsdale, AZ"
The city name in the main heading. "Plumbing Services in Scottsdale"
2-3 paragraphs about your services in that city. Mention the city name 3-5 times naturally. Talk about neighborhoods you serve. Reference local landmarks if it makes sense.
Your full list of services. Water heater, drain cleaning, sewer repair, etc.
A call-to-action. "Need a plumber in Scottsdale? Call us now."
The Critical Rule: Don't Copy and Paste
This is where most people mess up.
They create 5 pages and just swap out the city name. Same exact content. "We're the best plumber in [CITY]."
Google sees this as duplicate content. And penalizes you for it.
Each page needs to be genuinely unique. Different content. Different details. Mention specific neighborhoods, zip codes, or local references.
"We serve the Old Town Scottsdale area, including 85251 and 85257. Whether you're in McCormick Ranch or near Scottsdale Fashion Square, we can usually be there within 45 minutes."
That's unique. That's specific. That's what Google wants to see.
How Many Pages Should You Create?
Start with your top 5 cities. The ones where you do the most work and want the most calls.
If you're on our Growth plan, we create 5 service area pages for you.
On our Dominate plan, we create 10.
Each one is a new opportunity to rank on Google for "[city] plumber" searches. It's like putting up a billboard in every city you serve, except it's free once it's built.
Real Results
One of our clients served 4 cities but only had a generic website that mentioned his main city.
We built 4 service area pages. One for each city.
Within 90 days, he was ranking on page 1 for 3 of the 4 cities. His call volume went from about 8 calls/week to 19.
More than doubled. Just from creating pages that told Google where he works.
The Compound Effect
Here's what makes this strategy so powerful.
Each service area page can also have service-specific content.
"Water Heater Installation in Scottsdale" "Emergency Plumber in Tempe" "Drain Cleaning in Mesa"
Now you're not just ranking for "[city] plumber." You're ranking for "[city] + [specific service]."
5 cities x 5 services = 25 keyword combinations you can potentially rank for. This is the foundation of a strong local SEO strategy.
From one website. With a few extra pages.
