ADD SERVICES TO YOUR GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE. IT TAKES 5 MINUTES AND GETS YOU MORE VISIBILITY.

Most plumbers haven't added services to their Google Business Profile. It takes 5 minutes and can dramatically boost your visibility in local search.

Quick question. Have you added your services to your Google Business Profile?

Not your business category. Your actual services. With descriptions and prices.

If you just said "what?"... you're not alone. Over 70% of plumbers haven't touched this section.

And they're invisible because of it.

What's the Services Section?

Google Business Profile has a dedicated section where you can list every service you offer. Individually. With descriptions and optional pricing.

This isn't the same as picking your business category (which should be "Plumber" or "Plumbing Service"). This is a separate area where you spell out exactly what you do.

Think of it like a menu at a restaurant. Google wants to know everything you serve.

Why Does This Matter?

Because Google uses this information to match you with searches.

When someone in your town searches "tankless water heater installation near me," Google looks at which local plumbers have listed that as a service.

If you have it listed... you're in the running.

If you don't... you might as well not exist for that search.

It's that simple. And that brutal.

The Services You Should Add

Here's a starter list. Add every service that applies to your business.

Drain Services: - Drain cleaning - Drain repair - Hydro jetting - Video camera inspection

Water Heater Services: - Water heater repair - Water heater replacement - Tankless water heater installation - Water heater maintenance

Pipe Services: - Pipe repair - Pipe replacement - Re-piping - Pipe insulation - Frozen pipe thawing

Sewer Services: - Sewer line repair - Sewer line replacement - Trenchless sewer repair - Sewer camera inspection

Fixture Services: - Faucet repair and installation - Toilet repair and installation - Garbage disposal installation - Shower and bathtub installation

Emergency Services: - 24/7 emergency plumbing - Burst pipe repair - Gas leak detection - Flood cleanup

Other Services: - Water softener installation - Sump pump repair and installation - Backflow prevention - Gas line repair

Don't just add the service name. Add a description for each one. Two to three sentences explaining what you do and why the customer needs it.

How to Add Services (Step by Step)

This is almost embarrassingly easy.

Step 1: Go to your Google Business Profile (search your business name on Google while logged in, or go to business.google.com).

Step 2: Click "Edit profile."

Step 3: Click "Services."

Step 4: You'll see an option to add services. Start adding them one by one.

Step 5: For each service, add: - The service name - A brief description (include keywords naturally) - An optional price or price range

Step 6: Save.

That's it. Five minutes. Maybe ten if you add descriptions for everything.

Writing Service Descriptions That Actually Help

Don't just type "we do drain cleaning." That's useless.

Write something like:

Drain Cleaning: "Professional drain cleaning for kitchen sinks, bathroom drains, and main sewer lines. We use state-of-the-art equipment to clear clogs fast, usually within an hour. Serving [Your City] and surrounding areas."

Notice what's happening here.

  1. Specific services mentioned (kitchen sinks, bathroom drains, main sewer lines)
  2. Keywords included naturally (drain cleaning, clear clogs)
  3. Local reference (Your City and surrounding areas)
  4. Speed/benefit (within an hour)

Google eats this stuff up. And customers actually read it.

Adding Prices (Should You?)

Google lets you add prices to each service. This is optional.

My recommendation? Add "starting at" prices for your most common services.

  1. Drain cleaning: Starting at $150
  2. Water heater replacement: Starting at $1,200
  3. Faucet installation: Starting at $175

This does two things. It sets expectations for the customer. And it signals to Google that your profile is detailed and complete.

Complete profiles rank higher. That's not a theory. Google has said this publicly.

The Visibility Boost Is Real

Here's what happened for one plumber we helped in Georgia.

Before adding services: His profile showed up for about 15 different search terms per month.

After adding 22 services with descriptions: His profile showed up for 47 different search terms per month.

That's a 3x increase in visibility. From adding text to a form. For free.

His "discovery searches" (people who found him by searching for a service, not his business name) went up by 65%.

More eyeballs. More calls. More jobs. From five minutes of work.

Keep Your Services Updated

This isn't a "set it and forget it" thing.

If you start offering a new service... add it.

If you stop offering something... remove it.

If your prices change... update them.

Google rewards fresh, accurate profiles. It's like feeding a plant. Keep it updated and it keeps growing.

What Else Should You Do While You're in There?

Since you're already logged into your Google Business Profile, check these while you're at it:

  1. Hours: Are they accurate? (Including weekends and holidays?)
  2. Photos: Have you added any in the last 3 months?
  3. Description: Does it include your main services and service area?
  4. Reviews: Have you responded to all of them? (Yes, even the 5-star ones?)

Every little thing you optimize adds up. It's the difference between showing up on the map and being invisible.
